Prof. Yaqoub Al-Refaei, Director General of Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), announced the launch of a specialized workshop entitled “Cyber Security in Banks & Fintech.” This event is organized by KIBS in collaboration with the Union of Arab Banks and takes place in the State of Kuwait from February 12 to 15, 2017, at the Holiday Inn Salmiya Hotel.
The workshop brings together a select group of professionals from local Kuwaiti banks, alongside participants from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This diverse attendance ensures a rich exchange of expertise and perspectives on tackling cybersecurity challenges in the banking and financial technology sectors.
During the workshop, participants will discuss a range of crucial subjects, including the most recent technologies, procedures, and practices necessary to protect information systems from emerging electronic threats. Special emphasis will be placed on cyber piracy crimes and computer-related offenses that target information technology security within banking and financial institutions, as well as the associated risks.
The primary goal of the workshop is to equip attendees with practical skills and knowledge to create and manage effective operational security and prevention systems for IT infrastructure. Training will focus on strategies for defending against and deterring cyberattacks. Additionally, the program will address the phenomenon of Fintech, exploring its operational mechanisms, potential risks, and effective ways to manage those risks.
The workshop features distinguished lecturers, including Mr. Tony Chibli, Director of IT and Information Security at Credit Libanais Group in Lebanon, and Mr. Nader Qahoush, Chief Inspector in the Department of IT and Associated Technologies Supervision at the Central Bank of Jordan, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Their expertise and insights are expected to enhance the learning experience for all participants.
