The Consul General of Kuwait in Frankfurt, Asaad Al-Bahar, together with trainees from the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS) and representatives supporting the Arab German Banking Initiative (TAGBI), attended a meeting at the invitation of His Excellency Lord Peter Feldmann, Mayor of Frankfurt, and Mr. Tarkan Akman, Trade Representative. The purpose was to connect with students sent abroad by KIBS.
The KIBS trainees are currently employed at Kuwait Finance House, Kuwait International Bank, and the National Bank of Bahrain. These individuals participate in the “Employment and Training Program for Fresh Kuwaiti Graduates in the Banking Sector,” which is coordinated by KIBS under the Central Bank of Kuwait’s supervision, with support from the Central Bank and participating Kuwaiti banks. The program enables trainees to receive field training in foreign banks, including those in Germany, to broaden their expertise and familiarize themselves with contemporary banking systems and methodologies.
This group marks the inaugural cohort sent abroad as part of the Kuwait German Bank Exchange Program, a key initiative within the Arab German Banking Initiative. The exchange seeks to promote the transfer of financial and economic knowledge between German financial institutions and GCC countries, facilitating the development of each country’s capabilities as a financial center. It also fosters dialogue and collaboration between German institutions and their counterparts in the GCC.
The Arab German Banking Initiative was established by FIC Frankfurt International Consulting and the Taylor Wessing law firm, with support from Goethe University’s Institute for Law and Finance (ILF) and the Frankfurt Main Finance Association.
During the meeting, Consul General Asaad Al-Bahar highlighted the enduring and robust relations between Kuwait and Germany, recognizing Germany as one of Kuwait’s most significant trading partners. He encouraged German companies to engage in and contribute to Kuwait’s development plan, particularly by leveraging technology, knowledge transfer, and enhanced cooperation between the private and public sectors.
Al-Bahar also emphasized that Kuwait’s development plan centers on infrastructure and major projects across diverse economic sectors, notably in education and healthcare.
The Consul General expressed gratitude to FIC Frankfurt International Consulting and the German banks involved in the KIBS training program, acknowledging their role in providing valuable work and training opportunities for the students. He expressed hope that such programs would persist, benefiting both nations and strengthening ties moving forward.
