Ms. Al-Nibari, Director General of Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), honored the graduates of the fourth cohort of the Certified Shari’ah Auditor program, which was held from January 9 to February 24, 2022. The program saw the participation of 21 distinguished Kuwaiti professionals working in or interested in the field of Shari’ah auditing.
In her speech, Ms. Al-Nibari extended her gratitude to the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait and Chairman of KIBS, Mr. Basel Al-Haroun, as well as the members of the Board of Directors for their continued support of the program. She also thanked the human resources managers of the participating banks for their dedicated efforts and follow-up that contributed to the program’s success.
The Certified Shari’ah Auditor program is one of the initiatives under the “Kafa’a” program, launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks and implemented under the supervision of KIBS. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to enhancing the capabilities of Shari’ah audit professionals through academic and professional training, with the aim of strengthening governance and oversight of Shari’ah-compliant operations within Islamic banks in Kuwait and promoting a sound foundation for Shari’ah auditing practices.
One of the key strengths of this certification is its strong emphasis on practical, hands-on training in Shari’ah auditing. Half of the program’s duration is dedicated to the procedural aspects of auditing, while the remaining half focuses on foundational knowledge and the Shari’ah standards relevant to the Islamic finance industry. The program is based on best practices and the most up-to-date academic content, and the certification is officially recognized by the Central Bank of Kuwait, the Capital Markets Authority, and the Kuwait Center for Islamic Economy.
