Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS) organized a distinguished discussion titled “Building Success,” led by the world-renowned management thinker Tom Peters. Peters was the pioneer in introducing management lectures, which have since evolved into a global industry valued in billions of dollars. The event was sponsored by Kuwait International Bank as the main sponsor, with Kuwait Finance House serving as a strategic partner.
Prof. Yaqoub Al-Refaei, Director General of KIBS, emphasized that the discussion was built around a series of inspiring and practical ideas designed to help organizations rebuild themselves and seize opportunities hidden within crises.
Tom Peters rose to global fame after co-authoring “In Search of Excellence,” a book that revolutionized management practices upon its publication in 1982. The book triggered a significant shift in management thought and is widely regarded as one of the most influential works in the field.
Al-Refaei noted that KIBS stands as a leading institution in organizing discussions and workshops featuring renowned global leadership speakers. KIBS regularly invites managers and leaders from various levels and institutions across both the private and public sectors to participate in these workshops.
Last year, KIBS hosted John Maxwell, who delivered a workshop entitled “How to Be Real Success.” The event attracted over 200 participants from sectors including banking, finance, oil, telecommunications, real estate, education, and government. Attendees benefited from Dr. Maxwell’s proven leadership model and dynamic presentation style. Dr. Maxwell himself praised the session, describing it as one of the most successful workshops he had ever conducted.
The year before, KIBS welcomed global speaker Robin Sharma for his acclaimed discussion, “Lead Without Title.” Sharma inspired a large audience with his motivating ideas, grounded in robust theories, studies, and hands-on experience. His session featured interactive exercises and discussions, engaging participants in practical leadership concepts.
The “Building Success” discussion, held on April 9, 2013, at the Missoni Hotel, brought together a substantial number of professionals from local and international banks, the oil industry, service and real estate firms, and investment companies.
