As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Central Bank of Kuwait and Kuwaiti banks to emphasize corporate social responsibility and contribute to community service, Dr. Mohammed Youssef Al-Hashel, Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait and Chairman of the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), announced the launch of the third consecutive year of the Scholarship Program for Kuwaitis Pursuing a Master’s Degree. This initiative aims to send students abroad to pursue Master’s degrees in finance, economics, accounting, and business administration at top universities around the world.
The Governor explained that a committee consisting of members from the Central Bank of Kuwait, as well as both conventional and Islamic Kuwaiti banks, was formed to implement and oversee the program. KIBS is responsible for executing, monitoring, and supervising the program’s operations.
Dr. Al-Hashel emphasized that the program’s regulations, including conditions and requirements for participation, are available on KIBS’ website. Kuwaiti citizens holding a university degree who are interested in applying can review the eligibility criteria and submit their applications starting from Sunday, January 15, 2017, through Thursday, June 1, 2017.
The Governor clarified that the program does not impose any conditions requiring scholarship recipients, upon graduation, to work in the banking sector or at the Central Bank of Kuwait. Graduates are free to pursue careers in any institution, whether in the public or private sector. This flexibility aligns with the program’s broader goal of enhancing the skills of national talent and contributing to Kuwait’s economic and social development across all sectors.
Finally, Dr. Mohammed Youssef Al-Hashel expressed his gratitude to the Kuwaiti banks that have supported this distinguished national initiative. He reaffirmed that the Central Bank of Kuwait, in coordination with Kuwaiti banks, will continue its efforts to empower national cadres and further contribute to the growth and development of Kuwait.
