The Harvard Business School (HBS) Program for Developing Banking and Financial Executives Launches its 14th Session in Collaboration with the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS) as part of the Kafa’a initiative
Under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait and Chairman of the Board of the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), KIBS has today opened an executive education program in collaboration with Harvard Business School (HBS). The program is designed specifically to support the development of senior leaders in the banking and finance sector in the GCC. This year, the program is being presented in-person in Kuwait under the title “Strategic Leadership in a Changing World.” The program consists of two integrated themes, namely Financial Markets Strategy and Leadership. The program focuses on the critical role of leadership and management in formulating and implementing financial, technical and leadership strategies to address challenges along with various management and leadership skills and techniques required for the digital transformation in the financial sector to keep pace with the rapid developments in the field. HBS will cover real case studies related to the financial and banking sectors in addition to other sectors to enhance the analytical skills of the executives and provide them with the tools, techniques, frameworks and ideas to promote performance, innovation and the organizational culture.
The program targets executives such as department heads and their counterparts and will run over six days on March 11 – 16, 2023. Upon completion, participants will receive attendance certificates from the Harvard Business School.
The program is a part of the Kafa’a initiative which was launched by CBK in September 2019. The programs included in this initiative are sponsored by Kuwaiti banks and organized and executed by KIBS.
The first program was conducted in the State of Kuwait in 2010 and is held on an annual basis. The program alternates in other GCC countries; last year’s program – the thirteenth – was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. CBK along with Kuwaiti banks are eager to continue providing this distinguished program.
The development of talented and qualified nationals in all Kuwaiti banks will remain a top strategic priority considering the role of executives in developing their organizations. The collaboration amongst the GCC countries in areas of common interest such as training and development has always been and will remain an item of top priority.
The Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS) is a nonprofit semi-governmental organization that was originally established in 1970 by an Amiri Decree as the Banking Studies Center before it became a specialized institute in 1982. Functioning under the auspices of CBK, KIBS offers education, training and English language programs and research to serve the developmental needs of the Kuwaiti banking and finance sector.
