Under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), Basel A. Al-Haroon, the seventh cohort of the Certified Sharia Auditor program has been launched. This program is part of the “Kafa’a initiative” launched by CBK in cooperation with Kuwaiti banks, and is managed and executed by KIBS.
This was stated in a remark by the CBK Governor, in which he emphasized the importance of continuing such specialized programs despite the current challenging landscape, due to their pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of Sharia auditing in the sharia-compliant financial institutions, especially in light of the rapid changes seen in the banking sector.
KIBS inaugurated the seventh cohort of the “Certified Sharia Auditor” Program on 19 April 2026. The program is delivered through a flexible training approach that keeps pace with developments and ensures continuous professional development.
In this context, the KIBS Director General, Ms. Rana Abdullah Al-Nibari, noted that the program attracted an elite group of professionals working in Sharia auditing in Kuwaiti Islamic banks as well as Sharia audit firms and offices in addition to participants from various entities and individuals, thus reflecting ongoing interest in developing competencies.
She added that Sharia auditing is a fundamental pillar of Sharia governance which requires continued investment in developing human resources through high-quality professional training even under exceptional circumstances. She stressed that the current phase calls for intensified efforts to sustain professional capacity development.
From this standpoint, CBK, in collaboration with KIBS, developed the “Certified Sharia Auditor” Certification that has been designed to cover auditing across banking and financial institution activities, including investment and insurance, in accordance with the latest professional practices and standards. The certification is accredited by both CBK and Walbrook Institute London in the United Kingdom.
KIBS reaffirms its commitment to deliver high-quality programs efficiently and flexibly, in line with current requirements, reflecting its dedication to supporting the banking and financial sector under all circumstances.
