One year following the formation of the Central Bank of Kuwait, an Emiri Decree established the Center for Banking Studies on December 7, 1970. As the Center expanded its activities to meet the needs of the banking sector, a subsequent decree on December 7, 1982 formally founded the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS). Since its inception, KIBS has played a pivotal role in delivering advanced professional training aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the banking sector specifically and the broader financial sector. Beyond its comprehensive professional training programs, KIBS also offers research services tailored to banking needs.
Under the oversight of the Central Bank of Kuwait, KIBS operates through a board of directors chaired by the Governor of the Central Bank. Its membership includes chairpersons and general managers from various banks with a representative from Kuwait University.
With over 50 years of dedicated experience in Kuwait’s banking and financial sectors, KIBS has played a crucial role in knowledge transfer within the industry. It has expanded its portfolio to encompass a wide array of offerings including professional certification programs, executive development courses, training in key areas, assessment and testing services, English language training, e-learning platforms and publications on banking and finance research.
Beyond its role as a solutions provider that aids clients in enhancing their workforce and business outcomes, KIBS has cultivated an international and regional network of esteemed faculty members. These experts blend robust academic credentials with practical industry experience, bolstering KIBS’s global collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School, INSEAD in Paris, Moody’s, the FranklinCovey Leadership Foundation and the University of Cambridge.
The professional certifications offered by KIBS are accredited for their content and quality by its esteemed partner, the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) in the United Kingdom. LIBF, renowned globally for its expertise in banking and financial services education, holds the unique authority in the UK to confer degrees for professional certificate programs recognized by the UK Privy Council.
